About Otto Piene

Otto Piene was a pioneering German-American artist whose work transformed post-war art through light, movement, fire, and air. As co-founder of the ZERO movement, he helped shape a radical new visual language beyond traditional painting. From his early light experiments to monumental Sky Art events and his later work at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Piene continuously expanded the boundaries between art, technology, and public space.
